Welcome to the New Haven Bike Collective!
Give someone a bike, and they’ll ride until it breaks. Teach someone to wrench, and they’ll ride forever!
What we do: The New Haven Bike Collective recycles unwanted bicycles by repairing them and giving them to needy individuals in our community. We also offer a friendly work space for cyclists, as well as, community repair classes, workshops, demonstrations, and much more!
Come Visit Us! We have OPEN HOURS every Wednesday from 5-9PM at the shop (92 Atwater Street). This is the time to come work on your bike and meet other cyclists. The suggested donation is $8/hour for use of one stand and workbench, including tools.
Experience is always welcome, but if you’re new, one of our mechanics can help you fix your bike. If you’re really new, consider one of our repair classes or workshops (see Calendar for details).
Need a Bike? If you’re interested in getting a bike from us, the fee is $35-50, depending on the bicycle. Alternatively, you can work 5 hours at the shop and receive credit toward a bike.
**We do not serve groups referred to us from non-profits organizations, social agencies, etc. We will continue our policy to aid individuals on a first come-first served basis.
